This is a process called Suminagashi. It was developed as a paper design technique about 2000 years ago in Japan. Students have had a lot of fun, and success with it. Final pictures to come next week. Even though it was developed in Japan and the inks were made there, I had to buy it from Amazon in the US and have it shipped here. I could not find a single art store in China that carries it. Other then the inks this requiers no special materials and could be done just about any where.

Teacher exchange to China
Well it's true that Brittany and I have moved to China for a year of teaching the arts. With connections made between Joe Loftin (Wasatch Academy) and Mrs. Betty (Beijing National Day School) we have arrived here for an exciting year of teaching. We are now 2 weeks into classes and I must say the students here are very impressive...pictures and projects to follow!

Today we began putting the bikes back together. Flat tires, bent tires, and missing parts have made this process much more difficult than originally expected!
